SISU A-45 development KB-45

Sisu KB-45 is a light off-road AWD lorry made by the Finnish heavy vehicle producer Suomen Autoteollisuus (SAT) in 1965–1970. KB-45 was developed for the use of light infantry battalions of the Finnish Defence Forces. The project coordinator was Senior Engineer Uoti Hartikainen. The first prototype was built by SAT Testing Department in March 1964. The axles were made by Kirkstall. The vehicle was nicknamed at an early stage Proto, which was derived from prototyyppi (prototype). Sisu A-45 is a light off-road lorry made by the Finnish heavy vehicle producer SAT in 1970–1982. AWD vehicle was a further development of Sisu KB-45, that was originally developed after an assignment of the Finnish Defence Forces. The predecessor KB-45 was produced in SAT Karis works. In 1969 SAT merged with Vanajan Autotehdas . A-45 DOC 1 , 2 , 3 , 4. The power was transmitted through a five-speed gearbox, with overdrive top gear, and a two-speed transfer box, and both axles included differential locks and planetary reduction gears in the hubs. Just like KB-45, A-45 is informally called Proto. The name is derived from the Finnish word prototyyppi (prototype). The "Proto's" are substituted in Finnish army by 2008 presented Sisu A2045 lorries.
Proto-Sisu
Sisu A-45, i.e. the Proto-Sisu was sisu the manufacturer of two-axle, four-wheel drive off-road truck, whose carrying capacity was 4 to 150 kg.
KB-45
With the first version was called the KB-45. The model was developed jointly with the defence forces infantry battalion use. The design project responded to over-engineer Uoti Hartikainen. The shafts were English Kirkstallin manufacturers The car got very, very soon SISU and army personnel among the prototype-the word derived from the nickname of Proto. The first prototype was completed in the armed forces, the representatives indicated, surprisingly, that the car's wheelbase to be shortened to 30 cents. This is based on the armed forces measured by the Finnish forest trees to the average distance. The change caused enormous problems, because the gearbox and reduction gears could not match as planned. Transmissions between the pto shaft had to be replaced by structurally complicated teeth of the sleeve system, which allowed a shorter mutual distance. Also the gasoline engine replacement for diesel-powered production trouble. After the final, the series production version was ready, the military was satisfied with the outcome. The first 18 cars were delivered to the armed forces in August 1965. They were used mainly for field and anti-aircraft gun as facilitators. The armed forces had at their disposal a total of 83 KB-45, two of which were fire engines.
A-45 and AH-45
In 1970, was presented the successor to the model A-45, which the only significant difference was the axles. KB-45 been Kirkstallin manufacturers shafts had been replaced by SISU of their own design in the planet, between the fitted axis. Series production was decided to start in Hameenlinna. Some of the cars, however, were gathered the cattle in the Hameenlinna factory from time to time due to insufficient capacity. A-45 was developed soon also a variant called the AH-45, which already had a KB-45 -the model tested engineer Ilmari Louhion developed by advanced hydraulics. Thanks to this system the car can be connected to Sisu-liquid engines are equipped with a trailer, wherein the combination of the rough terrain improved significantly. Engine of Leyland EO.401 -direct injection diesel, which is AH-45 -model equipped with a turbo supercharger. In addition to this was the Valmet 611CA engine equipped with A-45-CI model. Both the front and rear axles are equipped with differential locks. The cockpit is next to the driver seat for two additional passengers, there is space for 27 persons. A-45's main customer was the Military, which has recently auctions have disabled the Proto-stock. The car has gained popularity among private enthusiasts alike. The car is agile to move forward in the terrain, the short wheelbase and the rotating frame thanks to its; even on rough terrain the wheels remain on the ground.
